Sometimes clients feel overwhelmed and anxious about upcoming court proceedings and legal rights, responsibilities, and expectations when navigating through substance-related charges on top of learning how to cope with these stressors in a new way. Even first-time offenses can induce stress in navigating through the legal system. On top of that, they need to learn to identify high-risk situations, thoughts, and feelings and grow in awareness of triggers and potential trauma. We work together to navigate through this process and maintain sobriety through recovery services and support.

I utilize a holistic and individualistic approach throughout the therapeutic process to accommodate each client’s unique experience, needs, and goals for therapy.

I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and comfortable environment and value the importance of the therapeutic relationship so they can move forward with ease. Vulnerability when working through addiction can be overwhelming especially since the legal system is often involved. It is essential to feel safe and comfortable when working through this challenging time.

It’s common to feel alone in our struggles and that everyone else has things “figured out”. No matter what our age or stage of life, there is a lot of pressure to be more, do more, to feel a certain way, or to do things “right” the first time.

I approach counseling as a team effort; working with my clients to get to know them and collaborating with them to build paths forward to feeling better in their own time.

I seek to know my clients’ strengths and joys as well as their challenges, and to approach the therapy process as a journey of growth that we go on, not a destination to reach.
